As somebody who dabbles in both IF and visual novels, I enjoy seeing the two fields intersect.

For Homer in Silicon the answer is actually that they allow me to schedule columns way in advance, so if I have some free time but know I’m going to be busy later, I stockpile columns.
Not a very exciting answer, I know.
