I have now posted v2 of Measured Liquid, which gets around an Inform bug that creates some problems compiling to the Z-machine. If you’re compiling to Glulx anyway, this shouldn’t affect you; otherwise you may want a new copy.
Also up is a new version of Simple Graphics Window, upgraded for 6E59. If you run it and have trouble with a problem message saying you need a newer version of Glulx Entry Points, please note: a correct version of GEP is included inside your Inform build, but it is possible that if you had installed some intermediate version yourself in your personal extensions directory, that version will interfere with compilation. You should uninstall any version of GEP older than version 8, and rely on the built-in version.
I installed the Simple Graphics Window plugin, but it says it requires GEP version 7, which is neither in the build nor in the extensions page on the Inform site (they only have up to version 6). Do I have to go somewhere else to download it?
The version of GEP distributed with the current build of Inform is version 8, and version numbering only requires that you have *at least* version 7, not version 7 exactly.
That’s the one I downloaded, actually, and it DOES have version 6. Seriously.
P.S. Tried reinstalling, btw – still version 6.
I just re-downloaded 6E72 to check this assertion, and at least the Mac package definitely contains version 8.
So:
1) Are you sure you have version 6E72 and not the previous new build (6E59)?
2) Are you sure you do not have an old copy of Glulx Entry Points installed in your user extensions directory, overriding the newer version included in the build?
If neither of those things is the problem, then there would have to be a glitch with the IDE package for whichever OS you’re running. If that’s it, we should file a bug report about the problem, and I’ll post a copy of the new GEP for you to use in the meantime. But I think the package creation is automated in a way that makes it unlikely for one IDE to wind up with extensions not in the others.
I checked again – turns out I might’ve downloaded an older version before by accident. After downloading the new one it still appeared as version 6, but then I went to File–>Install Extension and chose the file on the extensions folder and it updated to 8. I just found out a couple of minutes ago.
Sorry for bothering you with this.
