As zarf notes over here, we’ve submitted some panel suggestions to PAX East (and other people are welcome to do more). That’s Boston, March 26-28, 2010. Definitely planning to be there, besides me: J. Robinson Wheeler, Robb Sherwin, Aaron Reed, Andrew Plotkin, Mark Musante, Jeremy Freese, Juhana Leinonen, Jonathan Blask, Sam Kabo Ashwell, Jacqueline Lott Ashwell, Dave Cornelson, John Cater, David Welbourn, Iain Merrick, Jesse McGrew, Christopher Armstrong, Nick Montfort (part of the weekend); possibly Stephen Granade, Mike Rubin, and Jim Munroe; Jason Scott, almost certainly premiering Get Lamp.

Bespoke IF, redux
Thanks to the people who’ve bid so far on my auction on custom IF: I’m thrilled that it’s been more successful than I had anticipated.
However, I’ve received some email from people disappointed that they were priced out of the auction and asking if I could make something else available as well. Multiples of that particular item are unfortunately beyond me because of the time commitment involved, but I have posted a couple of other smaller and more distributable items:
— source to one of my old games for which source is not publicly available (Galatea, Metamorphoses,
Savoir-Faire, Mystery House Possessed, Floatpoint); starting bid $5.
— light customization of one of my recent games for your personal amusement, or a cameo appearance in my WIP. Three such are available; starting bid $10, and the top three bidders will receive this item.
Silly stuff, I know, but perhaps it will amuse someone.
The cause is to help defray the medical expenses of someone who urgently needs heart surgery and cardiac rehab, and has no insurance. If you decide to bid, please note the instructions on bidding and payment. Auctions close at October 10, 2009, Saturday, 11:59 p.m. Pacific time.

Unscientific survey
I almost posted about this a few weeks ago, but then didn’t really like the way the post came out, so killed it. But Chris’ post over here made me realize I’m still curious, if anyone feels like answering:
What is the biggest thing getting in the way of finishing and releasing your favorite WIP?
(In my case: I need to finish and release Alabaster before I go back to working on the older, bigger piece that relies on the same conversation extension. Which I guess could loosely be translated “lack of focus” or “bad habit of thinking that I can whip out small projects in between working on big ones”.)
New Extensions Librarian
I am delighted to announce that Christopher Armstrong has taken over the job of Inform extensions librarian. Authors should now submit their work directly to him.
Instructions for reaching Christopher can be found at the extensions page.
IFDB Polls
IFDB now has a facility to let people poll members for game suggestions — a neat feature, which will let us hang on to the results of those periodic requests people make on RGIF, instead of seeing all that good advice vanish back into the ether.
I’ve started one myself, on games with accurate real-world settings. But check it out — this could be a valuable tool if you’re looking to do research on some particular aspect of interactive fiction that isn’t already tagged in any database.
